Fault Hunter: Save Time When Inspecting Digital Signals

Finding and isolating very rare events and anomalies in a digital signal is tedious and time consuming. The all new Fault Hunter application on the Keysight MXR Family oscilloscopes automatically finds such events and helps you isolate them.

The Fault Hunter determines automatically what is considered normal of the signal under test based on measurements like pulse width, rise time, fall time, etc. Basically, the oscilloscope learns the signal and based on the results, it is able to determine which parts of the signal are anomalies.

Tests on the signal can be run from 60 seconds up to 48 hours. Errors which occurring during the test time are saved and can be easily reviewed.

Alternatively, the criteria which lead to errors can be copied to the trigger condition. By re-running the oscilloscope the user can now specifically trigger on these events, stop the oscilloscope and use to history mode to look at up to 1024 occurrences of this particular error.

Using the Fault Hunter on the MXR Series oscilloscopes allows users to find rare events without interaction with the scope and basically annihilates the time needed to setup complicated trigger conditions.
