At the beginning relevant basics and typical parameters of fiber optic networks are discussed to derive the reference to the purpose of the measurements. These include different network configurations, fiber types, techniques for connecting fiber optics, splitter and (measurement) filters as well as their effects on the transmission properties of the fiber optic installation link. In addition, you will learn to recognize and localize typical faults in fiber optic cabling.
The handling of optical fibers and especially optical sources sometimes poses an accident risk. Therefore, the accident prevention regulations in handling fiber optic communication systems according to the accident prevention regulation SUVA, degrees of danger and associated rules are dealt with to enable the safe handling of FOKS, i.e., fiber optic communication systems.
